States outside of the compact require a separate state licensure.....aka you're going to have to go through an application process and throw them some cash money, honey! Some states application processes could take MONTHS to get a license (cough, CALIFORNIA & NEW YORK, cough, cough) while some could turn around in a couple weeks....it's important to talk with your recruiter and plan ahead if you have a certain destination in mind that requires you to apply!
Also keep in mind State Nursing Boards will be flooded in January/February and May/June with the nursing students who graduate and take NCLEX which could add some wait time for your license.
